A Good Day Fishing!

Here are some pictures of the day...

I think these pictures say it all!

A Slight Change

Unfortunately for a lot of the residents of La Penita RV Park March is a month of cleaning, closing up and preparing to head north.  For us it has given us a good opportunity.  We were undecided whether to stay here for Easter, which is one of the biggest holiday for Mexicans, or head into Arizona for a month in the desert but when we found out a "prime" site would be available we decided to move into it.

looking down our empty street, from the new spot to the old spot

on the new pad ....looking at ....

this magnificent view

We couldn't pass up the chance to stare at this view for the next month, and listen to the waves crash along the shore.  This is the exact reason we came to Mexico.

And, as a extra bonus, on the first morning sitting outside and just staring at the water we were lucky enough to see whales.  Well at least one for sure, with the binoculars we could see it's tail flipping out of the water then it would dive back under the water and a spout of water would fly.

This morning I am sitting outside in the morning sun, watching some local fishermen setting nets to catch fish right off of "our" beach. Al has gone fishing again also.  Hopefully they will have a good day!

To all of our new friends that are on your way home have safe travels and we will see you next November.

Yes, this feels like home!  This small community of 135 sites has been so welcoming to us and we feel that in these last 4 1/2 months we have made some good friends and we are excited about coming back!

So to any one reading this that wants to have a slow and peaceful lifestyle whether it is for a week or a season, this is a remarkable place to come to. You can drive down with your own rig, fly down and rent a rig here, or even store your rig so that you only make the drive once.

Hasta Luega Amigos!

it's me again! I do remember to post occasionally..

On March 5th the park held the Tostada Party, regrettably the last fling for the year...

I followed the organizer of this event Linda M. around for about four days, I was suppose to be helping her but she is so organized that I just followed, took pictures and watched...

In the morning a group comprised of Fred and Barb, Dennis and Helen and Don changed burrito shells into lovely tostada bowls...

Meanwhile in the kitchen Ceci and Ada were busy cutting vegetables, making guacomole and salsa..

and the men after a rousing game of water volleyball set up all the tables and chairs...

over at Carole's the meat was being cooked with the help of Linda and Jolynn

and it all came together fantastically with 142 or so people enjoying delicious tostadas and margaritas and music!

Of course, I forgot to bring my camera along, so unless someone else offers me pictures of the finished product you will never see it...

I'm such a tease!

next blog our new site....stay tuned it might even be posted today!

A Quad Ride to Cave Beach

On Friday 5 quads and three vehicles headed to Cave Beach for some fun in the sun...Cave Beach is a little cove just north of us, it takes about 45 minutes to get to by quad, approximately 15 mins along the highway travelling at almost 50 kilometers an hour (scary with all of the buses and trucks flying by) and the rest of the way off road through a couple of small villages and lots of jungle.

We stopped at a beautiful gate manned by two "security" guards, who let us through after payment of a couple of cervesa's each.  We then traveled down a very rough road, more pot holes then road and came upon a beautiful cove.

It had beautiful bluey-green water, lovely sand and amazing cliffs and trees surrounding it.

the guys immediately went in for a swim to wash the dust off from the ride

A bar-b-q, coolers, chairs, umbrellas and games were taken along to make sure we had a fun day!

Marilyn and Cathy played cajoney's or ladder golf with David and Craig as partners

David, David, Marilyn and me playing Bocci
There were 17 of us in all but we only took a few pics of the games. We had two sets of Bocci going, while there was a game of cajoneys being played and others enjoying the sun, some in the shade and of course Herb was cooking!

About half way through our time at the beach this boat pulling a sled landed in "our" little cove and 1 boy and 6 girls embarked, minutes later a quad and a larger quad vehicle arrived  carrying 1 man and the other 5 boys.  It turns out it was a 16th birthday party for one of the boys.  They ate on the beach and then the boys all took off on the boat for some sledding and the girls left on the quads...

After a good lunch of hot dogs, chips and potato salad, we played some more games, floated in the water or sat in the shade until it was time to head home.

Proof I really did go on a quad ride!

'til next adventure!
