the Ohhh, I am so bad!

I really mean to blog more often, I do, but I seem to put off doing it and a week goes by.  And its not like we haven't had lots of activities going on.
I will try to be better, but those of you who know me will say yeah right, we've heard this before...

On Valentine's Day we celebrated with the annual Pig Roast, and the theme was HALLOWEEN.  Weird I know but it certainly brought out the costumes. It was a fun event with lots of good food, music and dancing!

You certainly can't say these "seniors" don't know how to have fun...

Besides that excitement we have walked to town, walked the beach, won at bingo, played a new dice game, gone to a Mexican Italian Restaurant, played volleyball, pickleball, washer toss and horse races, and celebrated an anniversary.  I think in all it has been a busy almost two weeks...

The snowbird exodus is slowly starting, it is sad to think that our time here in the sun is winding down.  There are a few rigs pulling out this weekend, more the first week of March and lots the middle of March.

Our plans keep changing but I think we are going to switch to a new spot in the park mid March and stay there for a couple of weeks and then we too will be heading north.  All I have to say is THE SNOW BETTER STOP FALLING IN BC BY THEN!

I will post again when I have new pictures to show you..

Hot tub or bar what should it be?

Here in LaPenita RV Park many years ago they decided to build an above ground hot tub.  It was built with rebar, cement and tiles and it never could hold water...in fact I've been told it leaked like a sieve.

So after many years of it sitting empty, this was the year they decided to pull it down.

First the machine came in..

but the machine could only pull it apart so far and then it was up to man or should I say men and smaller machines.  The first try was with a smaller jack hammer..

After a few minutes of work it was smoking! But then Ramon got the "big gun" and worked and worked and worked!

and finally the ground was all smoothed out and now it is

The temporary "Corner Bar" which was set up just in time for the AnnualValentine's Day  Pig Roast  (more about that in a later post)

Good Job to everyone involved in making this happen!

Pickle Ball!

To those of you who are like me and said what in the world is pickle ball, it is a cross between tennis and ping pong.  It is played on a cement court with large paddles and a wiffle ball.

Here are a few pictures of park members, including Al having an introduction to the sport...

And, no, I will not be playing..I am way too uncoordinated for that sport!

My new favorite appliance!

Thank you Peggy and Mel for supplying me with my new favorite appliance..

A breadmaker, yeah I know, no big deal but boy am I having fun with it.

So far I have made, banana bread, cinnamon bread, whole wheat bread, and of course white bread but now I am branching out into buns, cinnamon buns and french baguettes.

Yesterday's baguette's, before going in the oven..

my first batch of buns

As is the norm for me, I have had a few "oops" moments..

On my first batch of buns, I waited the hour and a half for the bread maker to do its thing, and then reached into pull out the dough and all I found was powder.  I forgot to put the water in! So I added the water ran the breadmaker for another hour and a half and voila, the dough was perfect.

Making cinnamon buns used the same bun recipe and I remembered the water this time, I pulled out the dough rolled it out added the nuts, sugar and raisins rolled it up and sliced it, baked it then realized it forgot the cinnamon!  So we had raisin nut buns but they were still good!

And then there was the time I forgot to put the"kneading paddles" back into the breadmaker and waited hours again for nothing to have happened.  It is hard to stir up ingredients without those!

Now I check for the paddles, and make sure I have added liquid and I am having pretty good success...I just am driving our neighbours crazy with the smell of cooking bread...especially at 6:30 in the morning if I set it to cook over night.
