After two beautiful weeks at La Penita RV Park, we said
adios to Toni and Joe from Calgary and Carol and Grant, the managers of the
park who live on Cortez Island in BC and their daughter Rebecca and 7 month old
grand-daughter Marisol. We had a great
time visiting the area, learning about the park and enjoying the pool and
ocean.
We went with Toni to a restaurant right on the beach and had
terrific burritos and mango margaritas while watching pelicans, frigates and
gulls swarm fishermen..
We went up to the highest restaurant in the area, The Vista in Rincon de Guayabitos, for a great dinner accompanied by fantastic views..
Toni and I wandered through the “tiangis” or market. It is so hard not to buy too much!
But most of all we just hung out and had a lovely, relaxing
time.
Here are a few of the sunsets we enjoyed
Fish came swimming into our bay and did the birds ever go
crazy..
Now on to Mazatlan!
On Tuesday the 23rd we headed to Mazatlan.
A number of the RV parks had already closed for the season,
we drove to the north end of town to Punta Cerritos RV Park but we only stayed
one night as the internet was not working well and we were just too far away
from shopping. (We desperately needed to
refill our cupboards with food).
nice sunsets though |
The next morning we
drove into town and found that Mar Rosa RV Park was open and only had one rv
and one tent in it, the nice Mexican fellow that waved us in allowed us to park
in the front row along the beach for the price of the third row.
We spent two nights here and then headed out on Friday, after a large grocery shopping at the Mega Store.

The next stop was Celestino Gasca! This is another very small town about 80km north of Mazatlan. There is very little here in conveniences but beach beach beach..
Villa Tortuga Resort
and RV Park, this place was spectacular.
It is a small place with 8 suites and the same number of rv sites, a
restaurant/bar, an infinity pool and a lovely empty beach.
I've never seen waves quite like this before |
lots of surfing going on! |
After 9.5 hours we pulled into Totanaka RV Park in San
Carlos in the state of Sonora. We stayed here in January on our way south and it had been quite full, but not now. There were only a few rigs left!
On Tuesday morning we headed to Nogales and US Border Crossing. After a wait of approximately 15 minutes we were all done and in the U.S. of A.

We drove to Tombstone Arizona pulling into the Wells Fargo RV Park. We
decided to take the time to see this town on our way because of terrible
weather up to the north. Pictures from there will be posted tomorrow. I Promise!
bye for now
